Unstuck - A Journal for Overthinking

$32.00Price

For the teenager who reads a message four times, decides what someone meant by it, and cannot switch it off at midnight. Unstuck is a thirty-one page journal that teaches one skill: noticing that a thought is a guess, and checking it against the facts before acting on it. Written by a registered psychologist, using the same thought records and questions used in session.

It works in order. First, how to spot a loop starting and what your own early warning signs are. Then eight thinking traps in plain language — guessing what they think, deciding how it ends, one slip becoming a whole identity — with the clinical term alongside each one. Then the method itself, with twenty-one questions to ask yourself and a fully worked example. Then five thought records to practise on, each set in a different situation: a group chat, an exam, something at home, a decision about the future. There is also a page for when the thought turns out to be true, because sometimes the answer is a real problem to solve rather than a thought to challenge.

You receive both formats in the one purchase. The print-ready PDF is thirty-one A4 pages, designed for a teenager  and prints clean in colour or black and white. The interactive version opens in a browser on a phone or laptop, with an access word from your read-me: every box is typed into, the before-and-after sliders drag, a button shuffles a new thinking question, and the four-week tracker fills in. Work saves in that browser, so a session can be picked up later. No app, no account.

Also included: six bank-card sized prompts to cut out and carry, a sheet for parents on what helps and what backfires, a thirty-minute session guide, and a clinician sheet mapping each part of the journal to what it is doing.
